Job summary

Equans UK & Ireland is seeking a Caretaker for Blackburn Central High School, BB2 3HJ. This permanent, full-time role offers 37.5 hours per week and a salary of £25,954.50 per annum plus benefits. Shifts rotate: 05:30–13:30 and 14:00–22:00, with DBS clearance required.

You will help maintain a safe, secure, and welcoming environment for staff, students and visitors, handling caretaking, cleaning, and basic maintenance, and supporting site security and health & safety compliance.

Qualifications

• Experience in caretaking, facilities, or maintenance roles is desirable.
• DBS clearance is required for this role.
• Reliability and proactive approach to work are essential.
• Good communication and customer service skills are important.

Equans is looking for a Caretaker to join the team in Blackburn Central High School, BB2 3HJ. This is a permanent full time role working 37.5 hours per week. On offer is a salary of £25,954.50 per annum and benefits package.

Shift times:

This role operates on a rotating weekly shift pattern:

• Shift 1: 05:30 – 13:30
• Shift 2: 14:00 – 22:00

What will you deliver?

In this role, you will support the day-to-day running of the school site, helping to maintain a safe, secure, and welcoming environment for staff, students, and visitors.

Key responsibilities include:

• Carrying out general caretaking, cleaning, and basic maintenance tasks
• Supporting site security, including opening and closing the premises
• Building positive relationships with school staff and community users
• Ensuring services are delivered to a consistently high standard
• Supporting compliance with health and safety requirements

You will also work closely with the Area Supervisor to support service delivery across the site.

For this role you must undergo A DBS clearance therefore ability to pass is essential
