Job summary

SGS College is seeking an Employability Skills and Industry Placement Coach to support learners in developing employability skills and securing high-quality placements. The role coordinates industry placements, delivers workshops and coaches students toward successful progression into employment, apprenticeships or further study.

The post supports the Readiness and Personal Development Directorate and partners with regional employers, contributing to the Get Future Ready strategy.

Qualifications

• Experience of organising industry placements, volunteering opportunities or employer engagement activities.
• Experience of delivering employability skills workshops, training or programmes.
• Excellent communication, presentation and relationship-building skills.
• Strong organisational, planning and administration skills.
• Experience of working with employers and the ability to influence and engage stakeholders.
• A learner-centred approach and commitment to supporting individual success.
• Strong digital skills and experience of recording and monitoring data.
• A driving licence and access to transport.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and manage high-quality industry placements and employer-led learning opportunities.
• Deliver employability skills workshops, workplace readiness sessions and pre-placement briefings.
• Coach learners to develop and evidence key employability skills, including communication, collaboration, planning and prioritising, problem solving and decision making.
• Support learners to develop professional behaviours and workplace expectations.
• Match learners to suitable placement opportunities aligned to their study programme and career goals.
• Build and maintain relationships with employers and external organisations.
• Conduct placement reviews and monitor learner progress.
• Promote progression pathways into employment or further study.
• Ensure safeguarding, health and safety, risk assessment and placement requirements are met.
• Maintain learner data and placement documentation.
• Collaborate with curriculum teams to support positive learner destinations.
