Job summary

Choices Homecare in Barnsley is seeking compassionate Domiciliary Care Workers to help people live safely and with dignity in their own homes. You will support personal care, meals, medication, and daily activities, on flexible hours from 3:00pm to 10:00pm with weekend shifts.

This role offers full training, mileage allowance of 30p per mile, and zero-hour contracts to suit your availability. A UK driving licence and vehicle are essential for some routes.

Qualifications

• Care experience preferred but not essential; full training provided.

• UK driving licence and access to a vehicle may be required for certain routes.

Responsibilities

• Supporting individuals with personal care needs such as washing, dressing, and toileting.
• Assisting with medication administration and documentation in line with care plans.
• Preparing meals and assisting with eating and drinking where required.
• Promoting independence and encouraging service users to engage in daily living tasks.
• Building positive relationships with individuals and their families.
• Supporting emotional well-being and recognising signs of distress or changes in behaviour.
• Maintaining accurate records and communicating effectively with colleagues and supervisors.
• Ensuring a clean, safe, and comfortable environment in the home.

Working hours

We are looking to recruit caring and reliable individuals who are interested in Evening & weekend-only work, supporting people in their own homes. Our service operates between 3:00pm until 10:00pm, with weekend shifts typically offered as:

• Teas and beds shifts: 3:00pm - 10:00pm
• Full-day shifts, depending on your availability

We welcome applications from those who can work either one or both days at the weekend. While availability on both days is helpful, we are particularly keen to hear from applicants who are available on Sundays.

Whether you are experienced in care or new to the sector, full training and ongoing support will be provided.

We’re proud to offer flexible zero-hour contracts where you can choose to work as many hours as you’d like.

Please note: this role is paid for care delivery time only, with mileage between calls reimbursed at 30p per mile. This is not a block pay position.
