Job summary

Westgate Healthcare is seeking a dedicated Care Team Leader to support residents' daily lives and lead the care team to ensure high standards of person-centred care. You’ll supervise shifts, mentor staff and champion compassion within the home.

You will liaise with GPs and other professionals, develop care plans and ensure accurate records. Roles run 8:00–20:00, 3–4 shifts per week with alternate weekends, delivering dignity and wellbeing for residents.

Qualifications

  • The right to live and work in the UK.
  • Previous experience in a care home or working with the elderly is essential to be considered.
  • QCF/NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care.
  • Medication trained.
  • Driven to improve standards and progress in your capabilities.

Responsibilities

  • Lead by example to provide high-quality, person-centred care, supporting residents with daily living while promoting dignity and wellbeing.
  • Safely administering medication in line with prescribed instructions, policies and procedures.
  • Support, guide and supervise the care team to deliver high standards of care.
  • Support induction, training and development of new team members, sharing knowledge and experience.
  • Complete, monitor and review residents’ care plans, ensuring accuracy and currency.
  • Ensure care records and documentation are completed accurately and on time.
  • Maintain clear, comprehensive daily records and communicate important information across the team.
  • Monitor residents’ health and wellbeing, escalate concerns as needed.
  • Collaborate with GPs and healthcare professionals to ensure appropriate care and support.
  • Create a positive, welcoming environment for residents, families and colleagues.
  • Support the wider team to maintain excellent standards of care and teamwork.

About the role

8:00am – 8:00pm 3–4 shifts per week Alternate weekend working required

As a Care Team Leader, you’ll be at the heart of our residents’ daily lives while providing guidance and support to the wider care team. You’ll help ensure consistently high standards of care, while creating a positive environment where both residents and colleagues can thrive.

Your role will include:

  • Leading by example to provide high-quality, person-centred care, supporting residents with all aspects of daily living while promoting their dignity, independence and wellbeing.
  • Safely administering medication in line with prescribed instructions, policies and procedures.
  • Supporting, guiding and supervising members of the care team, helping colleagues to deliver consistently high standards of care.
  • Supporting the induction, training and development of new team members, sharing your knowledge and experience.
  • Completing, monitoring and reviewing residents’ care plans, making sure they remain accurate, current and responsive to changing needs.
  • Ensuring care records and documentation are completed accurately and on time.
  • Maintaining clear and comprehensive daily records and ensuring important information is communicated effectively across the team.
  • Monitoring residents’ health and wellbeing, recognising changes and escalating concerns appropriately.
  • Working closely with GPs, healthcare professionals, Support Managers and colleagues to ensure residents receive the right care and support.
  • Helping to create a positive, welcoming and supportive environment for residents, families and colleagues.
  • Supporting the wider team to maintain excellent standards of care, teamwork and professionalism.
