Do you love coming up with ideas, getting people involved and creating moments that people remember?

We’re looking for a friendly and enthusiastic Activities Coordinator to join our team and help make life in our care home fun, meaningful and engaging.

This is a role where your personality really matters. You’ll get to know our residents, discover what they enjoy and use your creativity to build a programme of activities that gives everyone the opportunity to connect, have fun, learn something new and enjoy each day.

From arts and crafts and quizzes to themed events, outings, fundraising activities and one-to-one sessions, you’ll help make sure there’s always something to look forward to.

About the role

£12.71 per hour, plus 50p per hour weekend enhancement

22.5 hours per week

10am–6pm

3 shifts over 7 days

Alternate weekend working required

About the role

As our Activities Coordinator, you’ll be responsible for creating and delivering a varied programme of activities that reflects the interests, abilities and individual wishes of our residents.

You’ll be encouraged to think creatively, try new things and involve residents in shaping what happens in the home.

Your role will include:

  • Getting to know our residents and understanding their interests, hobbies, preferences and activity needs through conversation, observation and assessment.

  • Creating and delivering a varied programme of group and one-to-one activities that gives residents choice and encourages participation.

  • Exploring new ideas, resources and opportunities, including working with local community groups and external organisations.

  • Organising themed events, celebrations and fundraising activities throughout the year.

  • Planning and organising outings and trips, making sure appropriate staffing, safety and risk assessments are in place.

  • Managing the monthly activities budget for entertainment, materials and outings in line with company procedures.

  • Completing and maintaining appropriate risk assessments for activities and outings.

  • Producing engaging newsletters to showcase what's been happening in the home.

  • Taking photographs of residents enjoying activities and creating engaging content for our social media channels.

  • Working closely with the wider team to make sure activities are inclusive, meaningful and appropriate for our residents.

  • Encouraging residents to get involved while respecting individual choices when they don't want to participate.

About you

We’re looking for someone who brings energy, enthusiasm and plenty of ideas to the role.

You’ll be someone who:

  • Is naturally creative and enjoys thinking of new ideas.

  • Has a genuine interest in working with older people.

  • Is confident encouraging people to get involved without putting pressure on them.

  • Is organised and able to plan activities, events and outings effectively.

  • Has excellent communication skills and enjoys building relationships.

  • Is happy getting involved and isn't afraid to have a bit of fun!

  • Can work independently while also being a great team player.

  • Has good attention to detail and understands the importance of safety and risk assessments.

  • Is comfortable taking photographs and creating content for social media.

  • Has a positive can-do attitude and is always looking for ways to make things better.

Previous experience in an activities role, care setting, events, community work or a similar environment would be desirable, but we're more interested in your personality, creativity and passion for making a difference.

Why work at Westgate?

We want our people to feel valued, supported and rewarded. As part of the Westgate Healthcare team, you'll have access to:

  • Competitive pay, with enhanced rates for weekend working.

  • Equal pay for young workers — colleagues under 25 are paid the same rate as staff aged 25+.

  • Stream – access your wages before payday, plus exclusive discounts at some of the UK’s favourite shops.

  • Byond Prepayment Card, Extras Discounts and Cycle to Work Scheme.
