Job summary

Path House Medical Practice in Kirkcaldy is seeking a Care Navigator/Administrator to join our friendly team. The role combines frontline patient support with admin duties, and much of the time involves handling patient calls, booking appointments, and signposting to the right clinician.

This part-time, permanent position offers flexible hours (25 or 30 hours per week, Monday to Friday) and an opportunity to make a real difference in local healthcare.

CARE NAVIGATOR/ADMINISTRATOR

Are you a confident communicator with excellent customer service skills and a passion for helping people?
Path House Medical Practice is looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Care Navigator to join our friendly and supportive team. Serving approximately 17,300 patients, we are a busy, forward thinking practice committed to delivering high quality patient care.

About the Role

A Care Navigator is the vital first point of contact for patients accessing our services. Working in a fast paced environment you will help patients access the right care, from the right person, at the right time.
Please note that a significant proportion of this role involves telephone work. Successful candidates will spend much of their working day answering a high volume of patient calls, assessing patients needs, booking appointments and ensuring patients are directed to the most appropriate member of the healthcare team. Applicants should be confident communicators with an excellent telephone manner and the ability to remain professional, compassionate and efficient in a busy environment.
The role requires excellent communication skills, empathy, sound judgement and the ability to maintain strict confidentiality.

About You

You will:

  • Have an excellent telephone manner and strong customer service skills
  • Enjoy communicating with people and be comfortable spending much of the day on the telephone
  • Demonstrate empathy, professionalism and discretion
  • Be able to work calmly and effectively in a busy environment
  • Have good IT skills and the ability to learn specialist GP systems
  • Work well both independently and as part of a team

Experience in a healthcare, reception, customer service or administrative role would be advantageous but is not essential.

Working Hours
  • 25 hours a week – The successful candidate will work 5 hours per day, Monday to Friday. Shifts will be scheduled between 13:00-18:00 and may vary according to service requirements.
  • 30 hours a week – The successful candidate will work 6 hours per day, Monday to Friday. Shifts will be scheduled between 0800-1400 and may vary according to service requirements.
