Job summary

Leicestershire County Council is seeking an Extended Personal Advisor to support older children in care and care leavers as they transition to independent adulthood. You will manage caseloads, provide practical support and coordinate pathways with social workers, families and partner agencies.

You will deliver person-centred guidance, help develop life-skills and ensure safeguarding and inclusion in all activities, while maintaining professional records and collaborating with multiple

Qualifications

• Experience working with care leavers in a social care or similar setting.
• Experience supporting young people transitioning from care.
• Knowledge of safeguarding, child development and needs of older children.
• Understanding of support services available to care leavers and the roles of agencies.
• Ability to produce accurate written records and reports.

Responsibilities

• Manage a caseload of older children in care and care leavers.
• Develop, oversee and contribute to pathway planning for independent living.
• Support social workers in preparing looked-after children for adulthood and greater independence.
• Provide practical assistance and guidance to young people to develop life skills and confidence.
• Work with colleagues, parents, carers and partners to promote positive outcomes.
• Maintain accurate records and reports, ensuring clear documentation.
• Prioritise competing demands, manage deadlines and make sound decisions under pressure.
• Promote safeguarding, equality, diversity and inclusion in all work.
