Job summary

Leicestershire County Council is seeking an Extended Personal Advisor to work directly with older children in care and care leavers as they prepare for adulthood and independent living. You will manage a caseload, provide practical support and coordinate services with social workers, families and partner agencies.

This role requires empathy, strong communication and organisation, the ability to prioritise, and flexibility to work outside standard hours.

Qualifications

• Experience working with care leavers in social care or similar setting.
• Experience supporting young people transitioning from care.
• Knowledge of safeguarding, child development and care leavers needs.
• Ability to produce accurate written records and reports.
• Good IT skills (email, Word).

Responsibilities

• Manage a caseload of older children in care and care leavers.
• Develop, oversee and contribute to pathway planning for independent living.
• Support social workers in preparing looked-after children for adulthood and greater independence.
• Provide practical assistance and guidance to help young people develop life skills and confidence.
• Work collaboratively with parents, carers and partner agencies to promote positive outcomes.
• Maintain accurate records and reports with clarity and professionalism.
