Job summary

Handsale Ltd. is hiring a Kitchen Assistant to join our care-home team in Scotland. The role is full-time (35 hours per week) with rota-based shifts.

You will assist in food preparation, cooking and serving meals, and ensure hygiene and cleaning standards are maintained across kitchen and dining areas. We require team players with a basic hygiene certificate, strong organisational skills and a commitment to safety.

Qualifications

• Must be a team player and able to work to a rota.
• Experience of food preparation for the relevant Client group.
• Basic Food Hygiene Certificate required.
• High standards of hygiene and cleanliness expected.
• Highly organised and able to maintain professional knowledge and competence.
• Mental Health First Aiders within the workplace.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the food preparation, cooking and serving of meals.
• Wash up after meals; ensure crockery and equipment are cleaned and stored.
• Maintain cleanliness of the kitchen and dining areas.
• Ensure Health and Safety standards are followed in kitchen and dining areas.
• Attend mandatory training days/courses, on or off site as required.
• Report illnesses or accidents to Home Manager or Person in Charge.
• Follow Health and Safety policy and report faults to Home Manager or Handyperson.
• Maintain confidentiality of information gained during duties.
• Notify Home Manager of any absence or inability to report for duty.
• Adhere to company policies and procedures within defined timescales.
• Ensure all equipment is clean and well maintained.
• Carry out other tasks reasonably assigned.
