Job summary

Ann’s Care Homes Ltd is seeking a Maintenance/Facilities worker to uphold safety and building standards across homes. You will perform plumbing, carpentry, tiling, electrical tasks and routine inspections, reporting issues promptly to ensure smooth operations and resident safety. A full driving licence is required and on-call duties may apply.

The role emphasizes health and safety, documentation, and collaboration with care staff to maintain high-quality living environments.

Qualifications

• 6+ months experience in a similar maintenance role.
• Knowledge of traditional building trades and safe working practices.
• Understanding of Health and Safety, COSHH, and moving/handling techniques.

Responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with codes, legislation and safety procedures.
• Conduct routine estate checks and maintain records and logs.
• Report faults to Line Manager promptly to protect residents and clients.
• Familiarise with building/utility services and report faults identified.
• General plumbing tasks including unblocking toilets and stacks.
• Operate heating plant according to instructions.
• Carry out basic carpentry and tiling; adjust hardware as needed.
• Maintain tidy, safe and secure work and storage areas.
• General painting and decorating as required.
• Provide on-call emergency service and out-of-hours response.
• Ensure contractors comply with Health and Safety standards.
• Liaise with care staff and assist with job requirements.
• Transport mail/supplies as courier if necessary; mileage reimbursed per HMRC.
