Job summary

Darnford Rose Care Home is seeking a reliable Maintenance Operative to join our team and help keep the home safe, well-maintained and welcoming. This full-time role offers 37.5 hours per week with a competitive hourly rate of £15.00.

You will handle repairs, planned maintenance and grounds upkeep, contributing to a secure, comfortable environment for residents, families and staff. If you enjoy problem-solving and take pride in your work, we’d love to hear from you.

Qualifications

• Experience in a maintenance, facilities or property maintenance role.
• Practical skills across general building maintenance, including basic plumbing, carpentry and decorating.
• Confident identifying faults and carrying out repairs safely and efficiently.
• Good understanding of Health & Safety requirements and safe working practices.
• Organised, reliable and able to manage a varied workload.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and pride in delivering high-quality work.
• Friendly, approachable and team-oriented.
• Has previous experience in a care home, healthcare or similar environment (desirable).
• Holds a relevant trade qualification or Health & Safety certification (desirable).

Responsibilities

• Carry out a wide range of planned and reactive maintenance tasks throughout the home.
• Complete basic plumbing, carpentry, decorating and general building repairs.
• Undertake minor electrical maintenance, such as replacing light fittings and bulbs, where appropriate.
• Maintain gardens, outdoor areas and the overall appearance of the home.
• Carry out painting, decorating and general refurbishment work as required.
• Conduct regular inspections to identify maintenance issues and potential hazards.
• Ensure tools, equipment and plant are maintained and used safely.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records and report ongoing issues to the Home Manager.
• Work closely with colleagues to respond promptly to maintenance requests.
