Job summary

Avery Healthcare Group is seeking a Maintenance Operative for Birchmere Mews Care Home in Solihull. You will maintain buildings and grounds, carry out routine tasks and basic repairs, and support residents with room setup. The role requires a year of maintenance experience and a full driving licence.

You'll work as part of a caring team in a well-regarded care home, with opportunities for development within Avery’s growing network. DBS check will be required and expenses covered.

Qualifications

• Minimum of one year’s experience in general maintenance or a handyman role.
• Hold a full valid driving licence.
• Knowledge of Health and Safety, Moving and Handling, Fire Safety and COSHH.
• Able to be adaptive and cover a range of tasks at short notice.

Responsibilities

• Carry out general maintenance tasks and basic repairs (electrical, plumbing, joinery, building) inside and outside the home.
• Assist new residents with room setup to their preferences.
• Ensure routine re-decoration to maintain standards.
• Advise on supplies and order replacement goods as needed.
• Provide out-of-hours emergency service and participate in on-call rota.
