Job summary

Welford Healthcare is seeking a Maintenance Operative to support the safe, efficient running of our care home. You will undertake general and routine maintenance of buildings, fixtures, fittings and grounds, and complete timely compliance checks to ensure resident safety and well-being.

You will join a friendly Facilities Team, performing tasks from basic decorating and plumbing to PAT testing and minor electrical work. A can-do attitude and a willingness to learn are essential.

Qualifications

• Demonstrate basic maintenance skills and a can-do attitude.
• Willingness to complete required training (PAT, Legionella, etc.).
• Comfort with iPad and email for records and communication.
• Prepared to be lead fire marshal and train others as needed.

Responsibilities

• Maintain internal and external spaces to keep homes safe and presentable.
• Complete statutory and non-statutory tasks with auditable records.
• Carry out PAT on electrical items and keep records updated.
• Record tasks using the maintenance logging system.
• Perform minor electrical/plumbing repairs safely and promptly.
• Support residents moving in and assist with room personalisation.
• Help ensure health and safety compliance through inspections and reporting.
• Maintain stock and equipment and drive the company vehicle when needed.
