Job summary

St Martins Care Ltd is recruiting a Maintenance Operative for Darlington to support a busy care home. The role involves indoor and outdoor maintenance, safety checks, and coordinating with external contractors to keep the building and grounds well maintained.

We are looking for someone with good English, relevant maintenance qualifications, and strong time-management skills to prioritise tasks and ensure high standards of care and safety for residents.

Qualifications

• Good English (written and verbal).
• Vocational qualification/HNC/City and Guilds in Maintenance or Building Services.
• Must be able to communicate effectively with residents and colleagues.
• Ability to prioritise workload and manage time.

Responsibilities

• Maintain the building and grounds to ensure safety and compliance with Health and Safety regulations.
• Liaise with external contractors and oversee works as required.
• Carry out routine maintenance checks and essential decorating/gardening tasks.
• Follow all policies and procedures relevant to the role.
• Promote the welfare and safety of residents and those supported by the service.
