Job summary

Midlands Care in Dordon is hiring a Laundry Assistant to sort, wash, dry, fold and iron resident and staff linen in line with care home protocols. You will inspect garments for damage and ensure clean, well-presented laundry is returned to residents' storage.

No prior experience is required as full training will be provided. The role offers full-time or part-time shifts, on-site parking, a comprehensive benefits package, and DBS checks as part of the recruitment process.

Qualifications

• No prior experience required; full training provided.
• Basic numeracy and literacy skills.
• Good spoken English.
• Physical stamina to lift and stand for long periods.
• Reliable, adaptable and proactive in maintaining cleanliness.

Responsibilities

• Sorting, washing, drying, folding and ironing personal and household linen in line with care home protocols.
• Inspecting garments for damage, repairing minor tears, replacing buttons and caring for delicate fabrics.
• Organising and returning clean laundry to designated areas, including resident storage boxes and wardrobes.
• Maintaining hygiene and cleanliness in laundry areas; adhering to infection-control procedures and COSHH regulations.
• Monitoring stock levels of laundry supplies and chemicals; reporting shortages and ensuring safe storage.
• Supporting residents respectfully when handling personal clothing and promoting dignity.
• Participating in training programmes throughout the year, including mandatory and supplementary courses.
• Completing induction to deliver high-quality laundry services.
• Available for a range of shifts, including part-time and full-time.
