Job summary

Pembroke House, a care home for veterans in Gillingham, is recruiting a Grounds & Maintenance Operative to maintain the gardens and external environment to a high standard. You will support a maintenance team with minor repairs, decorating and general upkeep, while primarily focusing on gardening and grounds maintenance.

The role requires a proactive, self-motivated individual with DIY skills; driving duties may be required, and you will work under the Facilities Manager within a supportive team.

Qualifications

• Gardening experience and handyman skills are beneficial.
• Ability to work largely unsupervised.

Responsibilities

• Maintain gardens, lawns, paths and external spaces to a high standard.
• Carry out lawn care, pruning, hedge cutting, planting and weed control.
• Develop seasonal planting plans to enhance grounds.
• Monitor health of trees and shrubs; keep areas safe and tidy.
• Support maintenance team with repairs and decorating; minor refurbishment.
• Occasional driving duties for the home as required.
