Job summary

West Lothian Council is seeking a Handy Person for a care home to perform practical maintenance and repairs, supporting day-to-day operations and upkeep. The role includes gardening assistance and ensuring a safe, well-maintained environment for residents.

We welcome reliable, proactive individuals with hands-on experience and good communication skills. The position offers a competitive hourly rate and contributes to the community’s wellbeing; PVG checks may be required.

Qualifications

• Experience in general maintenance or handy person roles.
• Proactive, reliable and self-motivated.
• Ability to manage multiple maintenance tasks and repairs.

Responsibilities

• Carry out general maintenance and repairs in and around the care home.
• Fix plumbing issues, electrical faults, and general DIY tasks.
• Ensure safety regulations are followed and the home remains in good condition.
• Assist with gardening and grounds maintenance to keep external areas tidy.
• Follow health and safety procedures and carry out regular audits.
