MHA’s Berwick Grange care home in Harrogate is seeking a Maintenance Worker / Gardener to look after buildings, grounds and environmental safety. The role involves both internal maintenance and garden care, working with management and contractors to meet health, safety and quality standards.
The job offers a permanent, full-time contract with an hourly rate and extensive staff benefits, including training opportunities and DBS support.
Competenze
- Practical maintenance and/or gardening experience.
- Trade qualification desirable.
- Good communication and listening skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Flexible approach to work including occasional travel or out-of-hours work.
- Sensitivity to needs of older people.
Mansioni
- Carry out planned and reactive maintenance across the home, including minor repairs, decorating and general upkeep.
- Help develop and follow a planned preventative maintenance schedule in line with the Property Handbook.
- Maintain gardens, lawns, paths and outdoor areas, ensuring they are safe, tidy and well-presented.
- Monitor and maintain heating, water systems, lighting and other mechanical and electrical equipment, keeping records.
- Test fire alarms, conduct fire safety checks and support health & safety compliance.
- Liaise with the Home Manager and external contractors to arrange servicing and inspections.
- Assist with risk assessments and address hazards promptly.
- Support safe movement of furniture and equipment following manual handling guidance.
- Respect residents’ privacy, dignity and choice at all times.
