Job summary

Excelcare Holdings Ltd in Brentwood is seeking an experienced Care Home Cook to join a compassionate team at Winifred Dell Care Home. You will prepare nutritious meals for residents, using fresh ingredients and ensuring high standards of quality and safety.

You will design weekly menus, manage stock within budget, and work with Home Manager and healthcare professionals to align meal plans with individual support plans and risk assessments.

Qualifications

  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Experience of cooking for large numbers.
  • NVQ Level 2 in catering and hospitality.
  • 2 years' experience in a catering environment.
  • 12 months experience in managing a kitchen.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and cook nutritious meals using fresh ingredients.
  • Schedule weekly meal menus, considering dietary requirements.
  • Assist in stock ordering aligned with budget.
  • Collaborate with health professionals to align meal plans with support plans and risk assessments.
  • Maintain quality assurance systems in the kitchen.
  • Supervise other kitchen team members.
  • Comply with Health & Safety, Food Hygiene, COSHH and contamination guidelines.
  • Engage residents in meaningful activities while promoting independence, choice, dignity and respect.

Job description

  • As the Care Home Cook, you will be required to prepare and cook nutritious meals using fresh ingredients.
  • Schedule weekly meal menus, paying attention to individual dietary requirements
  • Work with the Home Manager to ensure that ordering of stock is in line with budgetary requirements.
  • Work with healthcare professionals involved in the support of people living in our care homes to ensure meal plans and dietary requirements fall into individuals support plans and risk assessments.
  • Maintain quality assurance systems within the kitchen
  • Undertake supervision of other kitchen team members
  • Have a full understanding of Health & Safety as well as Food Hygiene issues, COSHH, and working within the guidelines relating to contamination and cross infection.
  • You will be involved in meaningful activities with the people living in our care home as well as always promoting independence, choice, dignity, and respect
