Job summary

Temp All Staffing Ltd is recruiting for Care Home Chefs and Relief Chefs across the region. Flexible shifts, full or part time, days, evenings and weekends, with excellent weekly pay and enhanced pay on Bank Holidays.

The role involves preparing, cooking and serving nutritionally balanced meals, overseeing a team of kitchen assistants, managing stock and budgets, and ensuring kitchen hygiene and safety standards. Ongoing support is provided by the team.

Qualifications

• Experience of working in a care home kitchen environment.
• DBS Update Service preferred.
• Recognised catering qualifications.
• Experience of working in a care home environment.

Responsibilities

• Create varied menus incorporating choice and special diets.
• Cater for special occasions within the home.
• Control stocks and purchases within budgets.
• Prepare, cook and serve meals with other staff help.
• Ensure kitchen hygiene and safety rules are followed by all staff.
• Supervise and train junior staff in catering duties.
• Attend meetings/trainings organised by the home or Head Office.

Preparing, cooking, and serving nutritionally balanced meals and to oversee and manage a team of kitchen assistants.

Job Role

• Create varied menus which incorporate choice, are balanced and which are suitable to special diets, such as low fat, diabetic or those because of religious beliefs.
• Ensure that seasonal fresh fruit and vegetables are used whenever possible
• Cater for special occasions within the home
• Control stocks and purchases thereby allocating the quantity of materials
• Keep the purchase of materials within allocated budgets
• Prepare, cook, and serve meals. Clear and wash up with the assistance of other staff.
• Ensure that the kitchen hygiene and safety rules are observed by all staff
• Ensure that all kitchen staff clean the kitchen after use and at the end of each shift leave the kitchen in a clean and hygienic state.
• Ensure that fridge/freezer and food temperatures are tested and recorded daily
• Ensure that all kitchen staff operate within the requirements of current legislation
• Maintain the kitchen equipment as specified by respective manufacturers
• Supervise and help train junior or inexperienced staff in catering duties
• Attend discussions/meetings/trainings organised by the home and/or Head Office.
