Job summary

KPI RECRUITING LTD is seeking experienced Care Home Chefs to work across Huntingdon and surrounding areas. Opportunities range from a few shifts weekly to full-time temporary roles, with regular assignments to fit your availability.

The role involves preparing fresh, nutritious meals, meeting dietary and safety standards, and adapting to different care home environments while maintaining high quality standards.

Qualifications

• Experience as Chef de Partie, Sous Chef, Head Chef, Chef or Cook in care home or high-volume catering environments.
• Good knowledge of food safety standards and hygiene.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, cook and present fresh, nutritious meals for residents.
• Plan and prepare meals for breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks.
• Cater for dietary needs including allergies and diabetic diets.
• Ensure meals are well presented and tailored to residents' preferences.
• Monitor food quality, portion sizes and presentation standards.
• Maintain a clean, organised and safe kitchen environment.
• Complete daily food safety checks and kitchen records.
• Follow HACCP procedures and food hygiene regulations.
• Store food, ingredients and cleaning products safely.
• Follow company Health & Safety, infection control and safeguarding policies.

Job description

We have ongoing opportunities for experienced Care Home Chefs to work within care home settings across Huntingdon and the surrounding areas. Whether you're looking for a few shifts each week or full-time/temporary work, we have regular assignments to suit your availability.

This is a rewarding opportunity for chefs who enjoy preparing fresh, nutritious meals and understand the important role food plays in residents' wellbeing and daily experience. You will be responsible for delivering high-quality meals while ensuring all dietary requirements, food safety procedures and quality standards are met.

Working across a variety of care homes, you'll need to adapt quickly to different kitchen environments while maintaining excellent standards of food preparation and service.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare, cook and present fresh, nutritious meals for residents.
• Plan and prepare breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks in line with service requirements.
• Cater for a range of dietary needs, including allergies, diabetic diets, vegetarian, vegan and texture-modified meals.
• Ensure meals are well presented and tailored to residents' preferences wherever possible.
• Monitor food quality, portion sizes and presentation standards.
• Maintain a clean, organised and safe kitchen environment.
• Complete daily food safety checks, including temperature monitoring and kitchen records.
• Follow HACCP procedures and ensure compliance with food hygiene regulations.
• Store food, ingredients and cleaning products safely and correctly.
• Follow all company policies relating to Health & Safety, infection control and safeguarding.
• Adapt confidently to different kitchen teams and working environments.

Skills & Experience

• Previous experience as a Chef de Partie, Sous Chef, Head Chef, Chef or Cook.
• Experience working in care homes, healthcare, education, hospitality or other high-volume catering environments.
• Good knowledge of food hygiene and food safety standards.
• Experience preparing meals for larger groups.
• An understanding of the nutritional requirements of older people.
• Experience catering for specialist dietary requirements and allergies.
• Strong organisational and time-management skills.
• The ability to work independently and remain calm under pressure.
• A flexible and reliable approach to temporary and agency work.
