Job summary

Abbeyfield Living Society is joining Speedwell Court, West End, Southampton, as a Care Assistant for 36 hours per week on day shifts (8am-8pm). You will deliver high-quality, person-centred care guided by our five values: Care, Compassion, Community, Integrity and Excellence.

You will support residents with daily personal care, help with mobility and daily activities, and promote dignity and choice. Full training is provided, with competitive pay and a strong benefits package.

For almost 70 years, Abbeyfield Living Society has been a leading provider of housing and care for older people across England.

We are now looking for a dedicated Care Assistant to join our team at Speedwell Court.

  • Role: Care Assistant - Day shifts.
  • Location: Speedwell Court, Mansbridge Road, West End, Southampton.
  • Hours: 36 hours per week.8am-8pm.
The Role of Care Assistant

As a Care Assistant at Abbeyfield Living Society, you will play a vital role in delivering high‑quality, person‑centred care that reflects our values and puts residents at the heart of everything we do.

Care & Compassion

You will support residents with their day‑to‑day personal care needs, including washing, dressing, eating, drinking and mobility. You will take the time to understand each individual, offering kindness, patience and empathy while promoting dignity, independence and choice.

Community

You will help create a warm, welcoming and inclusive environment where residents feel safe, valued and at home. By building trusting relationships and encouraging social interaction, you will help foster a strong sense of belonging and connection within the home.

Integrity

You will act with honesty and professionalism, following care plans accurately, respecting confidentiality and raising concerns when something doesn’t feel right. You will work collaboratively with colleagues and contribute to clear, open communication within the team.

Excellence

You will be committed to delivering consistently high standards of care. This includes contributing to the development and review of individual care plans, recognising changes in residents’ needs, and striving to continuously improve the quality of support we provide.
