Job summary

Abbeyfield Living Society in Southampton is seeking a Care Assistant to join our team. The role involves delivering person-centred care to residents, supporting day-to-day needs and promoting dignity, independence and choice.

You will work 36 hours per week on day shifts (8am–8pm), with three 12-hour shifts and alternating weekends. We offer strong induction, progression opportunities, a pension and employee benefits.

Role Details

• Role: Care Assistant - Day shifts.
• Location: Speedwell Court, Mansbridge Road, West End, Southampton.
• Hours: 36 hours per week. 8am-8pm.
• Shifts: x3 12 hour shifts per week, including alternate weekend working.
• Pay: £13.35 - £13.71 per hour

The Role of Care Assistant

As a Care Assistant at Abbeyfield Living Society, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality, person-centred care that reflects our values and puts residents at the heart of everything we do.

Care & Compassion

You will support residents with their day-to-day personal care needs, including washing, dressing, eating, drinking and mobility. You will take the time to understand each individual, offering kindness, patience and empathy while promoting dignity, independence and choice.

You will help create a warm, welcoming and inclusive environment where residents feel safe, valued and at home. By building trusting relationships and encouraging social interaction, you will help foster a strong sense of belonging and connection within the home.

You will act with honesty and professionalism, following care plans accurately, respecting confidentiality and raising concerns when something doesn’t feel right. You will work collaboratively with colleagues and contribute to clear, open communication within the team.

You will be committed to delivering consistently high standards of care. This includes contributing to the development and review of individual care plans, recognising changes in residents’ needs, and striving to continuously improve the quality of support we provide.
