Job summary

Western Health and Social Care Trust is recruiting a Care Assistant (Band 3) at Glenside ATC, Strabane, to support adults with learning disabilities within the Day Centre services. Qualifications

• NVQ Level 2 in Care or equivalent or above with at least 6 months direct care experience.
• Or 1 year direct care experience and NISCC registration eligibility.
• Understanding the needs of individuals with learning disabilities.
• Ability to engage service users in meaningful activity.
• Safeguarding vulnerable adults.
• Promoting dignity and respect.
• Contributing to assessment and care planning.
• Communication and teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Treat service users as individuals and promote dignity, privacy, and respect.
• Carry out Bus Guide duties.
• Assist service users in meaningful activities to promote independence.
• Participate in social and vocational skills programmes.
• Participate in multi-sensory and behavioural programmes.
• Observe and report changes.
• Work as part of a team to provide person-centred care.
• Attend to personal hygiene needs.
• Participate in supervision and appraisal.
• Participate in staff training and quality initiatives.
• Be flexible.
