Job summary

Care By Us is seeking caring professionals to join our Hertsmere and South Hertfordshire team. You will travel to clients’ homes, delivering compassionate care with dignity and respect. Training is provided, and roles offer flexible hours to suit your lifestyle.

Responsibilities include medication support, mobility assistance, mealtime help, and fostering independence. You’ll also provide companionship, health monitoring, and collaborate with families and professionals to ensure quality care.

Pay Rate: £14.60 - £16.00 per hour plus 30p mileage.

Work Locations

As this is a community-based role, you will be traveling to support clients within their local communities. We proudly provide high-quality care across the region, primarily covering:

  • Potters Bar & Surrounds (EN6): Potters Bar, South Mimms, and Darkes Lane.
  • Borehamwood & Elstree (WD6): Borehamwood and Elstree.
  • Bushey & Surrounds (WD23): Bushey and Bushey Heath.

A full driving licence and access to your own vehicle is essential for this role due to the geographical nature of the rounds.

Job Description

What You’ll Be Doing You'll help vulnerable clients live safely, comfortably, and independently in their own homes. Following personalised care plans designed to promote dignity and respect, your responsibilities will include:

  • Medication support (preparation and administration)
  • Mobility support (including the safe use of aids and equipment)
  • Mealtime support (preparing meals/snacks, and feeding if required)
What Else You’ll Help With
  • Companionship – conversations, activities, outings
  • Mobility Assistance – transfers, walking support, use of aids
  • Health Monitoring – observing and reporting changes in condition
  • Social Inclusion – helping maintain community and family connections
  • Emotional Support – empathy, reassurance, and a listening ear
  • Safety & Emergency Response – creating safe environments, acting quickly when needed
  • Collaboration – working closely with colleagues, professionals, and families
Qualifications

What You’ll Need (Besides a Cape!) You don’t need formal care experience! The skills you’ve gained from raising a family, caring for loved ones, or running a household are exactly what makes a brilliant Care Professional. Full, paid training is provided. We’re looking for:

  • Genuine empathy, compassion, and respect for others
  • Reliability, punctuality, and a naturally caring nature
  • Patience and active listening skills to truly understand our clients' needs
  • Resilience and adaptability—because no two days (or clients!) are exactly the same
  • A keen eye for detail to spot any changes in a client's health or well-being
  • The ability to use your initiative and stay calm under pressure
  • Willingness to learn new skills and participate in continuous training
  • Great communication and a collaborative team spirit
