Job summary

Brendoncare Stildon provides residential and nursing care for 32 people in East Grinstead. We are a charity focused on empowering older people and supporting the care team with extensive training and benefits.

As a Care Assistant, you will deliver person-centred personal care, support wellbeing, and liaise with nurses to update care plans. We offer paid breaks, free meals on shift, DBS check free, and a supportive work environment.

Qualifications

  • NVQ/QCF 2 in Health & Social Care is preferred but not essential.
  • Good communication, teamwork, reliability and affinity to older people are important.

Responsibilities

  • Provide personal care that is person centred and respects individual choices.
  • Provide additional care when a client is unwell or towards end of life.
  • Act as a Key-worker to a number of clients.
  • Record care given in daily notes and inform the shift lead of changes.
  • Support residents' families and liaise with other agencies when required.

What will I be doing?
  • Providing personal care to clients that is person centred and respects individual choices;
  • Providing additional care and support as required when a client is unwell or towards end of life;
  • Acting as a Key-worker to a number of clients;
  • Using personal knowledge and experience of working with those individuals to support the nurses in writing and reviewing care plans;
  • Documenting care given and record any changes or abnormalities in the daily notes in addition to informing the person in charge of the shift;
  • Providing support and advice to resident’s family and friends, keeping them informed at an appropriate level with due regard to the constraints of confidentiality;
  • Working with the Activities Team to develop group and 1:1 activities that will be engaging and of interest to the residents;
  • Liaising with other agencies as required in the interests of the resident, for example GP, Social Services, Occupational Therapist, etc.
What do I need to have to apply?

Whilst we’d love you to be NVQ/QCF 2 qualified in Health & Social Care with experience of providing care, your values that are more important to us.

In addition, you need to possess good communication skills, be a team player, are reliable and committed and have a natural affinity to older people.

What is Brendoncare Stildon like?

Brendoncare Stildon provides residential and nursing care for 32 people and has been designed to provide a home-like atmosphere where individual needs can be met.

The accommodation is laid out in two households, each with 16 single bedrooms, a sitting room, dining room, kitchenette and two assisted bathrooms. All the bedrooms are a generous size with en-suite facilities including a shower. The welcoming entrance hall, sitting rooms and dining rooms all provide comfortable places where people can spend time together.
