Job summary

Sugarman Health and Wellbeing is hiring a Care Assistant to support a young service user in Blandford with complex care needs. The role involves nights shifts, building a trusting relationship and promoting independence while ensuring high-quality, person-centred care.

The successful candidate will have UK care experience, be comfortable with tracheostomy care and monitoring, and commit to training, DBS checks, and compliance with care plans. Weekly pay and supportive team are offered.

Qualifications

• A minimum of 6 months of professional UK Care experience
• Excellent communication skills and the patience to build a strong, understanding relationship with an individual who has full mental capacity can make their own choices
• The ability to follow detailed care plans and protocols meticulously.
• A proactive and observant nature, able to spot subtle changes in an individual's condition.
• To provide the correct compliance documents, including an updated Right to Work and a valid DBS certificate (we can assist with a new application).

Responsibilities

• Support service user with complex care needs and ensure safety and dignity
• Perform tracheostomy care, suctioning, ventilation, and observation as required
• Administer medication and feeding via gastrostomy; monitor vital signs
• Encourage independence and participate in activities the service user enjoys
• Follow detailed care plans and protocols meticulously
• Provide social and emotional support to the service user

About the role

We are looking for a caring, reliable, and enthusiastic Care Assistant to support our service user based in Blandford.

Our service user is a friendly young adult who enjoys attending music festivals, watching football, and collecting football shirts and memorabilia. They enjoy spending time with their dog, who they have taught a variety of tricks. In their spare time, they enjoy playing darts in their bedroom and building Lego sets. We are looking for someone who can build a positive relationship with the service user, encourage independence, and support them to take part in the activities and hobbies they enjoy.

The role involves providing support with complex clinical care, including tracheostomy care and suctioning, ventilation, oxygen therapy, humidification, observation and monitoring, administration of nebulisers via ventilator/tracheostomy, medication administration and feeding via gastrostomy, gastrostomy care, basic vital signs observations, pain management, and social and emotional support.

Previous care experience is desirable, and experience in complex care would be advantageous.
