National Star in Malvern is seeking warm, confident Support Workers to help a young woman with cerebral palsy live independently in her own bungalow. You will support personal care, mobility and communication, and help her use community activities while promoting choice and autonomy.
The role welcomes applicants who are patient, reliable and able to work as part of a small team, with a focus on person-centred support from the start of a new service opening at the end of October.
Could you support a young woman to live independently, make her own choices and enjoy life in her own home?
We’re looking for warm, confident and experienced Support Workers to join a brand-new service opening in Malvern at the end of October.
This is an exciting opportunity to become part of a new team from the very beginning, supporting a young woman with cerebral palsy as she settles into her own bungalow and builds the independent life she wants.
She has full capacity and is at the heart of decisions about her life and support. She is non-verbal and requires support with personal care, communication, mobility and moving and handling.
But this role is about much more than providing care.
Whether that’s going shopping, getting out and about, spending time doing the things she enjoys or simply having a relaxed day at home, you’ll provide support in a way that promotes choice, independence and control.
You’ll support her with:
Above all, you’ll take the time to get to know her as an individual and understand how she wants to be supported.
Previous experience in care or support would be particularly valuable for this role. Experience supporting someone with cerebral palsy, physical disabilities, communication needs and/or moving and handling would be an advantage, although most important is your approach.
You’ll need to be:
A full UK driving licence would be preferable, and we would particularly welcome applicants who are willing and confident to drive company vehicles. However, a driving licence is not essential.
We have permanent full-time and part-time opportunities available, as well as opportunities to work nights.
Day shifts will include:
The service is based in Malvern, Worcestershire, in a newly established bungalow opening at the end of October.
Rather than joining an established service, you’ll have the opportunity to be there from the beginning.
You’ll become part of a team built around one person and have the opportunity to create consistency, trust and great support from day one.
If you’re an experienced Support Worker who believes good support means enabling someone to have choice, independence and an ordinary life in their own home, we’d really like to hear from you.
This position is open to female applicants only due to the personal and intimate care requirements of the woman being supported. An Occupational Requirement applies to this post under the Equality Act 2010.
