Job summary

Epsom and St Helier University Hospitals seeks a Cardiology Matron to provide clinical and professional leadership to the cardiology nursing team. The post holder reports to the Lead Cardiology nurse and leads across the service to deliver high standards of care and patient experience.

The role supports strategic delivery within Cardiology, contributing to workforce planning, quality improvement and budget management while upholding trust values.

Qualifications

• Mentorship or equivalent required.
• Degree level or above within cardiology.
• Non-medical prescriber.
• Significant experience within the cardiology specialty.

Responsibilities

• Lead the cardiology nursing team to improve patient experience and care standards.
• Develop and implement cardiology pathways (heart failure, arrhythmia, rapid access chest pain service, cardiac rehabilitation).
• Support the Cardiology Lead Nurse with operational and budget management.
• Ensure services operate within allocated budgets while delivering high-quality care.
