Job summary

Blackpool Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a highly motivated Theatre Scrub Practitioner for the Cardiac Theatres. The unit comprises four theatres performing over 1,000 cardiac and 500 thoracic cases annually, with opportunities to work in recovery and Cardiology.

Training is provided; prior Cardiac Theatre experience is preferred but training can be provided for registered Nurse or ODP applicants. The core hours are 08:00–19:00, with a 7-day, 24-hour on-call requirement.

Qualifications

• Registered Nurse (Level 1) or Registered Operating Department Practitioner.
• Willingness to complete teaching and assessing qualification.
• Willingness to complete specialist qualification.

Responsibilities

• Prepare surgical instruments, maintain sterile environment and anticipate surgical teams' needs.
• Scrub nurse is responsible for correct count of swabs, needles and instruments at end of procedure.
• There is a structured training programme to quickly integrate you as a team member.
