Carbon Scientist
Remote with travel
Allen & York are thrilled to be partnering with One Carbon World, a carbon neutral, not-for-profit organisation based in 32 countries around the world. Selected as an observer organisation by the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) and a global resource partner of the Climate Neutral Now Initiative, One Carbon World is working to make carbon accounting accessible for every business.
In this unique opportunity, One Carbon World is looking for an exceptional Carbon Scientist to join their dedicated team.
You will need to hold a minimum of an MSc in environmental science, ecology, forestry, or a related field, and have extensive experience with GIS analysis, developing MRV protocols for farm/forest-based carbon measurement, and implementing and analyzing remote-sensing systems. Familiarity with applying the IPCC Guidelines for National Greenhouse Gas Inventories to quantify carbon stock change in AFOLU systems is essential, along with experience in developing models to estimate changes in carbon stocks over time. You should be comfortable working with large, complex datasets to analyze and interpret carbon data for land-based, forestry, and agricultural systems, and skilled in applying mathematical equations such as allometry to estimate biomass and carbon stock changes. Research experience in forestry and soil ecosystems, along with a thorough understanding of standards and guidelines like LSRG, SBTi FLAG, and VERRA, is required.
This role is fully remote, but international travel is expected, including potential attendance at the annual United Nations Conference of Parties (CoP).
In return, you'll have the opportunity to make a direct impact and be a key part of the organization's growth, working alongside experts in their fields.
