Job summary

Newport City Council is seeking a Capital and Resource Officer on a part-time basis (22.5 hours) to lead capital projects, secure external funding, and manage budgets for community assets that support families and communities.

You will work with schools, community organisations and Welsh Government to deliver improvements, ensuring safe, accessible spaces and measurable outcomes for Newport residents. The role is fixed term until March 2028 with a focus on placing-based service delivery.

Qualifications

• Experience managing budgets and funding bids for capital projects.
• Ability to work with partners across the city and with Welsh Government.
• Strong project coordination and stakeholder engagement skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead development and delivery of capital projects across Prevention and Inclusion services.
• Secure external funding and oversee capital investment for community assets.
• Manage budgets, oversee premises-related projects, and coordinate with internal teams and external partners to maximise impact.
• Collaborate with schools, community organisations, elected members and contractors to identify opportunities and deliver outcomes for Newport residents.
