Job summary

Newport City Council is recruiting a Business Support Administrator to join the Prevention & Inclusion team on a fixed term basis. The role is hybrid, based at Rivermead Centre, Rogerstone and the Civic Centre, Newport, with a focus on processing referrals, applications and coordinating services.

The post requires attention to detail, team collaboration, excellent communication and IT skills, and the ability to work independently while prioritising workload.

Hybrid - based at Rivermead Centre, Rogerstone and the Civic Centre, Newport


The Prevention & Inclusion Business Support team covers a diverse range of projects and initiatives. We are currently offering an exciting opportunity within our fast-paced and dynamic team.


Attention to detail and working as part of a team are fundamental requirements of the post along with excellent communication, organisational and IT skills, and the ability to work on your own initiative along with prioritising workload effectively.


Responsibilities will include:


  • Administration of Families First referrals

  • Assessing and processing of Childcare Offer applications

  • Processing of Flying Start applications

  • Raising and administrating orders to support the service area

  • Handling enquiries from both providers and parents via a shared mailbox and telephone helpline, ensuring compliance with internal and external policies and procedures.

  • Co-ordinating room bookings

  • Providing accurate and timely minute taking for meetings


All tasks include maintaining accurate records, engaging with a range of audiences including internal teams, external providers and partners.
