Job summary

East and North Hertfordshire Teaching NHS Trust is recruiting a Cancer Support and Information Health Care Professional to provide safe, compassionate information and support to patients undergoing cancer treatment and their families.

You will be a key contact, helping patients access guidance and resources throughout their cancer journey, with flexible annualised hours and a core set of weekly hours.

Qualifications

• Educated to degree level or equivalent in a health-related subject.
• Oncology qualification and/or considerable experience.
• Excellent communication and counselling skills.
• Experience working with people affected by cancer and with multi-disciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

• Develop HCP-led services including a helpline and drop-in services.
• Advise on cancer support and information for patients, families, staff and volunteers.
• Collaborate with Health Care Professionals to ensure quality of service.
• Oversee training for staff and volunteers to ensure service standards are met.
• Support and supervise volunteers in the centre.
• Assess information needs and signpost to other services as appropriate.
• Maintain data collection for Cancer Support and Information Services.
• Support clients attending appointments and pre/post treatment sessions.
• Coordinate pre and post treatment courses and wellbeing initiatives.
