Job summary

East and North Hertfordshire Teaching NHS Trust is recruiting a Cancer Support and Information Health Care Professional to provide safe, compassionate and comprehensive support and information for patients undergoing cancer treatment and their families.

You will be a key contact, helping people access guidance and resources throughout their cancer journey, with flexible annualised hours and a core 7.5 hours per week plus additional shifts.

Qualifications

• Degree level in health-related subject (e.g. nursing, radiotherapy).
• Specific oncology qualification and/or considerable experience.
• Counselling qualification/experience and excellent communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop and lead cancer support services including helpline and drop-in services.
• Advise on cancer support and information for patients, staff and carers.
• Coordinate training for staff and volunteers to ensure quality.
• Supervise volunteers and maintain data collection for services.
• Support patients at appointments and during pre/post-treatment sessions.
