Job summary

Think FE is recruiting a Security Officer to join a further education college, helping to maintain a safe and welcoming environment for students, staff and visitors. This is more than a traditional security role.

You'll be a visible and approachable presence across the campus, working closely with the Student Welfare team to support students, particularly those living in residential accommodation. We’re looking for someone who is confident handling security incidents but equally comfortable

Qualifications

• Valid SIA Licence.
• Full UK driving licence essential.
• Previous security experience, ideally in a public-facing environment.
• Good communication skills and the ability to engage positively with young people.
• Calm, professional approach to managing difficult situations.
• Understanding of safety, confidentiality and professional boundaries.
• DBS check (enhanced) including the child barred list.

Responsibilities

• Monitor CCTV network and respond to incidents.
• Carry out security patrols across the campus.
• Maintain a visible, approachable presence during busy periods.
• Collaborate with Student Welfare to safeguard students, including on campus living.
• Respond to security concerns and emergencies calmly and professionally.
• Record incidents and report safeguarding or security concerns through proper channels.
