Job summary

Think FE Ltd in Northampton is seeking a Security Officer to help maintain a safe and welcoming environment for students, staff and visitors. You’ll be a visible presence across the campus, monitoring CCTV and patrolling the site.

The role requires a valid SIA licence, a full UK driving licence, and experience in a public-facing security setting. You’ll work with the Student Welfare team to safeguard residents and respond calmly to incidents, reports and emergencies.

Qualifications

• Essential: A valid SIA Licence.
• Essential: A full UK driving licence to undertake site patrols.
• Essential: Previous security experience, ideally in a public-facing environment.
• Essential: Good communication skills and the ability to engage positively with young people.
• Essential: Calm, professional approach to managing difficult situations.
• Essential: Strong understanding of safety, confidentiality and professional boundaries.
• Essential: Clean DBS check (enhanced) including the child barred list.
• Desirable: SIA CCTV licence training can be provided.
• Desirable: Experience in education, residential accommodation or similar.

Responsibilities

• Monitor the college's CCTV network, identifying and responding to incidents.
• Carry out regular security patrols across the college campus, including vehicle patrols where required.
• Maintain a visible, approachable presence during busy periods, including lunchtimes and the start and end of the student day.
• Work closely with the Student Welfare team to help safeguard students, particularly those living on campus.
• Respond to security concerns, incidents and emergencies calmly and professionally.
• Help maintain a safe, secure and welcoming environment for students, staff and visitors.
• Record incidents accurately and report safeguarding or security concerns through the appropriate channels.
