Job summary

The University of Sheffield is seeking a proactive Mechanical Maintenance Supervisor to lead a team of technicians across campus. You will manage planned and reactive maintenance, stock levels, and safety compliance while coordinating with the Mechanical Engineering Manager to deliver high-quality services.

Applicants should have a time-served apprenticeship with HNC in Mechanical Engineering, GCSEs including Maths and English, and proven maintenance experience.

Qualifications

• Time served apprentice with HNC in Mechanical Engineering.
• GCSEs including Maths and English.
• Proven experience in mechanical maintenance.
• Experience motivating and communicating with a team.
• In-depth knowledge of mechanical installations and related products.
• Experience using IT systems (Google, Word, Excel, Calendars, Planon).
• High standard of customer service.
• Ability to prioritise and allocate resources to meet deadlines.
• Ability to develop viable solutions for specialist works.

Responsibilities

• Supervise a team of mechanical maintenance technicians.
• Allocate work to team members to meet deadlines.
• Maintain rolling program of planned maintenance in Planon.
• Assist mechanical engineering manager to plan preventative maintenance.
• Order parts and maintain stock levels of consumables.
• Coordinate and maintain annual leave and sickness records for the team.
• Respond to emergencies via on-call rota.
• Provide guidance and technical input to resolve complex issues.
