Job summary

Shillito Group in Sheffield is seeking an electrically biased Multiskilled Maintenance Engineer to oversee maintenance of facilities and equipment, minimising downtime and upholding high standards. This days-only role offers hands-on responsibility for preventive and corrective maintenance across mechanical, electrical, and facility systems.

The ideal candidate has an engineering apprenticeship and ONC/HNC, practical experience in manufacturing, and familiarity with safety regulations.

Qualifications

• Recognised engineering apprenticeship and ONC / HNC (or equivalent) in electrical/mechanical engineering.
• Proven experience in a manufacturing environment in both mechanical and electrical maintenance.
• 17th or 18th edition wiring regulations.
• Experience performing preventative and reactive maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement preventive and corrective maintenance schedules for equipment and facilities.
• Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems and provide timely repairs.
• Ensure compliance with safety standards, regulations, and best practices.
• Maintain inventory of tools, parts, and equipment; manage procurement as needed.
• Monitor and improve equipment performance using KPIs such as MTTR and MTBF.
• Collaborate with production, safety, and engineering teams to support operational goals.
• Manage maintenance budgets and prepare reports for management review.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives to increase equipment uptime and reduce costs.
• Oversee facilities maintenance including HVAC, lighting, plumbing, and utilities.
• Record all work undertaken including trend analysis and stock parts.
• Carry out or organise general repairs and oversee routine property plant maintenance.
• Facilitate / support Lean Manufacturing and operational Excellence implementation.

We are recruiting for a skilled and proactive Maintenance Engineer to oversee the maintenance, repair, and continuous improvement of our manufacturing client's facilities and equipment. The ideal candidate will ensure the safe and efficient operation of machinery, minimise downtime, and uphold high operational standards.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement preventive and corrective maintenance schedules for equipment and facilities.
• Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems and provide timely repairs.
• Ensure compliance with safety standards, regulations, and best practices.
• Maintain inventory of tools, parts, and equipment; manage procurement as needed.
• Monitor and improve equipment performance using KPIs such as MTTR (Mean time to repair) and MTBF(Mean time between failures)
• Collaborate with production, safety, and engineering teams to support operational goals.
• Manage maintenance budgets and prepare reports for management review.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives to increase equipment uptime and reduce costs.
• Oversee facilities maintenance including HVAC, lighting, plumbing, and utilities (as applicable).
• Responsible for the recording of all work undertaken including analysis of trends key parts stock
• To carry out or organise general repairs/oversee routine property plant maintenance
• Facilitate / support Lean Manufacturing and operational Excellence implementation

Required skills:

• Recognised engineering apprenticeship and ONC / HNC (or equivalent) in electrical/mechanical engineering
• Demonstrable proven experience in a manufacturing environment in both mechanical and electrical maintenance
• 17th or 18th edition wiring regulations
• Experience doing both total preventative and reactive maintenance
• Competence to review existing SOP'S and develop new ones.
• Experienced in carrying out Risk Assessments and utilising SSW's.
• Willingness and capability to learn develop and adapt.
• Excellent customer service skills, ensuring positive interactions with internal and external stakeholders
• Excellent problem-solving, organisational, and communication skills
• A Team player with good inter-personnel skills
• Lean or 6 sigma qualification (desirable)
