Job summary

Abingdon and Witney College is seeking a proactive Estates Supervisor to lead our onsite estates and cleaning teams, ensuring a safe, compliant and welcoming environment for students, staff and visitors. This hands-on leadership role covers caretaking, maintenance, cleaning and contractor activities across the campus to keep facilities in top condition.

• Experience supervising operational teams.
• Knowledge of building maintenance, cleaning operations or facilities management.
• Understanding of health and safety legislation, including COSHH requirements.
• Excellent communication and organisational skills.
• The ability to prioritise workloads and respond effectively to changing business needs.
• A hands-on approach and willingness to support operational activities when required.
• Good IT, literacy and numeracy skills.
• A commitment to maintaining high standards of safety, security and customer service.

Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate the estates, caretaking and cleaning teams to ensure a safe, secure and well‑presented campus.
• Oversee building maintenance, repairs, compliance activities and contractor management across the college estate.
• Maintain high standards of cleanliness, health and safety, and statutory compliance.
• Manage staff rotas, resources, training and performance to ensure an efficient and responsive service.
• Support campus operations through effective security arrangements, emergency response and day‑to‑day estates management.
