Job summary

CSVPA is seeking a Cleaning Operative to maintain a high standard of cleanliness across its Cambridge-based buildings, residences, and grounds. The role reports to the Cleaning Supervisor within the Operations Team, and may involve duties in the canteen and Summer School periods.

Shifts run Monday to Friday from 06:00 to 14:30, with full-time, permanent employment and a focus on health and safety in daily cleaning tasks. You will support a welcoming environment for students, staff and visitors.

Qualifications

• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
• Good communication in English (minimum Level B1) and ability to work in a team.
• Ability to follow instructions and adhere to processes.
• Proactive, pragmatic approach to problems and challenges.

Responsibilities

• Cleaning and upkeep of school teaching buildings and boarding house residences.
• Daily cleaning of College and School of English buildings.
• Weekly cleaning of individual houses.
• Check toilets and communal areas are clean and tidy at regular intervals.
• Keep outside areas free of rubbish.
• Report any cleanliness/health and safety/repair issues to line manager promptly.
• Deal with all customers (students, staff, external) with courtesy and promptness.
• Use equipment and cleaning materials in accordance with safe working practices.
• Work independently or in small teams as required.
• Undertake additional duties during the Summer School period.
• Occasional duties in the canteen.
• Any other duties required by line manager or Operations Manager.
