Job summary

Job Summary

This is an exciting opportunity to transform the way in which Children and Young People's Emergency & Urgent Care is experienced by CYP and those who care for them across Rotherham, Doncaster & South Humber. As part of the NHS Mental Health Implementation Plan 2019/20 - 2023/24, RDaSH has undertaken the development of a crisis response services for CYP.

Working pattern: 24/7 rotational shift pattern, including long days, twilight shifts and night

We are currently recruiting a number of enthusiastic and motivated clinicians to RDash's newly formed CYP Crisis Team. These dynamic team members will form part of our skilled, multidisciplinary team, and will play a key role in the implementation and delivery of the service. Clinicians will be offered the opportunity to develop skills and experience in this area through the induction process, internal training, Continuing Professional Development (CPD) and supervision.

Main Duties of the Job

You will provide specialist mental health assessment, intervention and risk management for children and young people experiencing a mental health crisis. You will undertake comprehensive assessments across community, emergency department and acute hospital settings, gathering information from young people, families and partner agencies to inform clinical decision‑making and care planning.

You will develop and deliver collaborative crisis, safety and risk management plans, ensuring that interventions are evidence‑based, person‑centred and focused on achieving positive outcomes for young people and their families. The role requires autonomous practice, sound clinical judgement and the ability to respond effectively to complex and high‑risk presentations.

Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, you will liaise closely with CAMHS colleagues, acute hospitals, social care, education providers and voluntary sector organisations to ensure coordinated care and effective support. You will undertake safeguarding responsibilities, maintain accurate clinical records and contribute to service quality, governance and continuous improvement initiatives.

The successful candidate will contribute to effective management of service demand and capacity, and participate in service development activities. This role operates within a 24/7 crisis pathway and requires flexibility to work a rotational shift pattern including days, evenings, weekends and nights.

Knowledge

• Theoretical and practical knowledge in areas of child and adolescent mental health and good awareness of key drivers in the field.

Qualifications

Essential

• Registered Mental Health Nurse, Learning Disability Nurse, Occupational Therapist or Social Worker with current registration post first assessed year of practice
• Current professional registration
• experience and training relevant to the management and assessment of risk
• Evidence of continued professional development
• Specialist Qualification in CBT, FT or other appropriate therapy Degree or equivalent
• A qualification, or have undertaken a program of formal training in Clinical Supervision
• Supervision training
• Ability / Skills to support change and improvement, support and inspire colleagues / act as a role model.
• Ability to motivate others, good planning and organisational skills.
• Good Assessment skills selecting treatment from a range of options.
• Able to manage caseload and to prioritise under time pressures for self and team.
