Job summary

Rotherham Doncaster and South Humber NHS Foundation Trust is recruiting for a Band 6 CAMHS clinician to join the CYP Crisis Team in Doncaster. The role offers a 24/7 rotating shift pattern including days, evenings, and nights, with a focus on assessment, risk management and collaborative care for young people in crisis.

Qualifications

• Registered professional in nursing, LD nursing, OT or social work with current registration.

Job overview

This is an exciting opportunity to transform the way in which Children and Young People’s Emergency & Urgent Care is experienced by CYP and those who care for them across Rotherham, Doncaster & South Humber. As part of the NHS Mental Health Implementation Plan 2019/20 – 2023/24, RDaSH has undertaken the development of a crisis response services for CYP.

We are currently recruiting a number of enthusiastic and motivated clinicians to RDash's newly formed CYP Crisis Team. These dynamic team members will form part of our skilled, multidisciplinary team, and will play a key role in the implementation and delivery of the service. Clinicians will be offered the opportunity to develop skills and experience in this area through the induction process, internal training, Continuing Professional Development (CPD) and supervision.

Working pattern: 24/7 rotational shift pattern, including long days, twilight shifts and night

Main duties of the job

You will provide specialist mental health assessment, intervention and risk management for children and young people experiencing a mental health crisis. You will undertake comprehensive assessments across community, emergency department and acute hospital settings, gathering information from young people, families and partner agencies to inform clinical decision-making and care planning.

You will develop and deliver collaborative crisis, safety and risk management plans, ensuring that interventions are evidence-based, person-centred and focused on achieving positive outcomes for young people and their families. The role requires autonomous practice, sound clinical judgement and the ability to respond effectively to complex and high-risk presentations.

Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, you will liaise closely with CAMHS colleagues, acute hospitals, social care, education providers and voluntary sector organisations to ensure coordinated care and effective support. You will undertake safeguarding responsibilities, maintain accurate clinical records and contribute to service quality, governance and continuous improvement initiatives.

The successful candidate will contribute to effective management of service demand and capacity, and participate in service development activities. This role operates within a 24/7 crisis pathway and requires flexibility to work a rotational shift pattern including days, evenings, weekends and nights.

Person specification

Knowledge

• Theoretical and practical knowledge in areas of child and adolescent mental health and good awareness of key drivers in the field.
• Highly competent in making a decision regarding ongoing patient care based on clinical and risk factors.
• High level of problem solving and planning skills.
• Effective communication skills with all disciplines and agencies to optimise patient management.
• Awareness of own competency level and how to seek appropriate help.
• Understanding of confidentiality and risk management
• Clinical audit, research and clinical governance principles.
• Have a good understanding of child protection/safeguarding policies, recording and reporting any concerns to the appropriate agency including participate in case conferences as required.

Experience

• Experience of delivering assessment, care and treatment within mental health services
• Demonstratable experience in supporting patients presenting in mental health crisis and working autonomously

• Experience of working within a crisis service
• Working with service users and carers in service improvement

Qualifications

• Registered Mental Health Nurse, Learning Disability Nurse, Occupational Therapist or Social Worker with current registration post first assessed year of practice
• Current professional registration
• experience and training relevant to the management and assessment of risk
• Evidence of continued professional development
• Specialist Qualification in CBT, FT or other appropriate therapy Degree or equivalent
• A qualification, or have undertaken a program of formal training in Clinical Supervision
• Supervision training
