Rotherham Doncaster and South Humber NHS Foundation Trust (RDaSH) is recruiting a CAMHS Practitioner – Eating Disorders Transitions Worker (NHS AfC: Band 6). Join our specialist Community Eating Disorders Service to support young people and families as they transition from CAMHS to Adult Eating Disorder Services, providing assessment, therapy, care coordination and advocacy.

Qualifications

• Professional mental health qualification at degree level or above.
• Experience with Children, Young People & Families.
• Interest or experience in eating disorders.
• Specialist qualification in CBT, Systemic Family Practice or related therapy.
• Formal training in Clinical Supervision.

Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate the transition of young people from CAMHS to Adult Eating Disorder Services with person-centred care planning.
• Undertake specialist mental health and risk assessments and develop care plans.
• Deliver individual, family and group therapeutic interventions for eating disorders.
• Act as a resource and advocate for young people, families and professionals.
• Collaborate with CAMHS, Adult Services and partner agencies to ensure coordinated care.
• Participate in MDT meetings, transition reviews, safeguarding processes.

Job overview

Join our specialist Community Eating Disorders Service and play a key role in supporting young people and their families as they transition from CAMHS to Adult Eating Disorder Services. This rewarding role offers the opportunity to provide expert assessment, therapeutic intervention, care coordination and advocacy, working collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams and partner agencies. We are looking for an experienced and compassionate mental health professional with a passion for eating disorders, strong clinical skills, and a commitment to delivering high-quality, person-centred care while helping shape and develop innovative services across Rotherham, Doncaster and North Lincolnshire.

Main duties of the job

• Lead and coordinate the transition of young people with eating disorders from CAMHS to Adult Eating Disorder Services, ensuring seamless, person-centred care planning.
• Undertake specialist mental health, risk and eating disorder assessments and develop comprehensive care and transition plans.
• Deliver evidence-based therapeutic interventions, including individual, family and group work, for young people with eating disorders and their families.
• Act as a key resource and advocate for young people, families and professionals, providing advice, guidance and emotional support throughout the transition process.
• Work collaboratively with CAMHS, Adult Services and partner agencies to ensure effective communication, joint working and coordinated care.
• Participate in multidisciplinary meetings, transition reviews, inpatient reviews and safeguarding processes as required.
• Provide clinical supervision, training and support to colleagues, students and other professionals.
• Promote innovative, evidence-based practice and support the continual development of eating disorder services across Rotherham, Doncaster and North Lincolnshire.

Person specification

Qualifications

• A professional qualification in Mental Health at degree level or above
• Experience of working with Children, Young People & Families
• Experience or interest in working in the field of eating disorders
• Specialist Qualification in CBT, Systemic Family Practice or other therapeutic intervention
• A qualification, or have undertaken a program of formal training in Clinical Supervision

Experience

• Demonstrable post qualification experience, including experience of working with clients with mental health problems, working with children and families in particular
• Managing and prioritising a complex caseload
• Experience of Multi-Disciplinary working and organising MDT meetings
• Currently engaged in an advanced level of practice and able to demonstrate a high degree of professional autonomy
• The ability to provide patient-centred assessments, care planning, therapeutic intervention formulation and evaluation of the intervention with children, young people, parents and families.
• Ability to undertake Risk Assessments and identify appropriate plans in partnerships with the young person, families and other agencies to maintain the safety of young people
• Demonstrate a high degree of skill and knowledge within the field of eating disorders
• Experience in leading & embedding new ways of working within complex settings
• Planning and delivering presentations and training to groups
• Experience in delivering comprehensive family work in a child and family setting
• The ability to lead and work independently
• The ability to organise and support professionals from different professional backgrounds

Skills

• Demonstrate a high degree of skill and knowledge within the field of eating disorders

Knowledge

• Demonstrate a high level of theoretical and practical knowledge in areas of child and adolescent mental health especially within the field of eating disorders and have a sound knowledge of the changes within the field of child & adolescent mental health in-line with national drivers
• Highly competent in making decisions regarding ongoing patient care based on clinical and risk factors
• Effective communication skills with all disciplines and agencies to optimise patient management
• Awareness of own competency level and how to seek appropriate help & support when required
• Understanding of confidentiality and risk management
• The ability to assess competency & consent in young people
• Demonstrate a good understanding of the Mental Health Act
• Ability to undertake Risk Assessments and identify appropriate plans in partnerships with the young person, families and other agencies to maintain their safety within a community setting
• Have a good understanding of child protection/safeguarding policies, recording and reporting any concerns to the appropriate agency including participate in case conferences as required.
• Excellent teaching, training and preceptorship skills
• Able to motivate and develop a team of staff
• High level of problem solving and planning skills
• Clinical audit, research and clinical governance principles
• Understanding of the Children’s Act especially around Section 85/86
