Job summary

Quantum Scholars in Wokingham is seeking a calm, compassionate Family Support Assistant to work with a family, supporting a highly anxious young person educated via EOTAS. This in-person role requires a reliable, patient approach and ability to support day-to-day family life.

You will build trust with the family, assist with routines, and help the young person engage with learning and community activities, while maintaining safeguarding and confidentiality.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting children or young people in education, SEND, pastoral support, family support, youth work or a similar setting.
• A calm, patient and empathetic approach, particularly with a highly anxious young person.
• A practical, flexible attitude and willingness to help with general household tasks.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
• Ability to work independently within agreed boundaries and maintain confidentiality.

Responsibilities

• Build a positive, trusting relationship with the young person and their family.
• Provide practical support to help manage day-to-day routines and education-related activities.
• Assist with light household tasks such as tidying and organising shared spaces.
• Support the family with everyday tasks to create a calm, organised home environment.
• Help the young person engage with learning, activities and their EOTAS provision where appropriate.
• Communicate any changes, concerns or progress to the relevant professionals.
