Job summary

Quantum Scholars in Wokingham is seeking a calm, compassionate Family Support Assistant to help a local family in a home and community setting.

You will perform practical household tasks, assist with meal preparation, tidying and organisation, and provide patient, supportive help to a highly anxious young person educated through an EOTAS arrangement. You will work 2.5 hours per morning, 4 mornings per week, in-person and with safeguarding commitments.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting children or young people, ideally within education, SEND, pastoral support, family support or related settings.
• Calm, patient and empathetic approach; ability to support a highly anxious young person.
• Willingness to undertake cleaning, tidying, organising and general household tasks.

Responsibilities

• Carry out general cleaning and tidying around the home.
• Help keep shared spaces clean and organised.
• Organise household items and learning spaces as required.
• Support day-to-day household tasks to ensure smooth running of the home.
• Prepare simple meals and light cooking for the family.
• Assist with basic kitchen duties and tidying operating areas.
• Support with laundry and light household duties.
• Identify tasks to help the household run more smoothly.
• Create a calm, structured and organised home environment.
• Build a positive, trusting relationship with the young person and family.
• Provide calm, consistent support to a highly anxious young person.
• Support engagement with learning, activities and EOTAS provision.
