Job summary

Lift Maltings in Essex seeks a proactive Cover Supervisor to maintain high-quality learning when teachers are absent. You will deliver pre-prepared lesson materials across subjects, explain tasks clearly and help keep students focused and productive.

You will support SEND students, complete attendance registers and liaise with teaching and pastoral colleagues to address welfare issues while upholding a calm, orderly classroom environment.

Qualifications

• GCSE Maths and English at Grade 4 or equivalent, together with A levels or an equivalent Level 3 qualification.
• Experience of working with children and young people and the confidence to supervise whole classes.
• Clear and effective communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with students and colleagues.

Responsibilities

• Supervise lessons in the absence of the class teacher and deliver pre-prepared lesson materials.
• Maintain a positive, calm and orderly classroom, applying the academy behaviour policy consistently.
• Support students to understand and complete assigned work, including providing appropriate support to students with SEND.
• Complete attendance registers, collect completed work and provide clear feedback to the class teacher.
• Liaise with teaching, SEND and pastoral colleagues where student support or welfare issues arise.
• Support wider academy duties, including student supervision during breaks, lunchtimes and other activities when required.
