Job summary

Lift Maltings in Witham, Essex is seeking a Cover Supervisor to provide essential classroom cover during teacher absence and to deliver pre-prepared lesson materials across subjects. You will help maintain a calm, focused learning environment and support students with additional needs, including SEND.

Role requires safeguarding awareness, strong communication, and adaptability to different age groups. Opportunity to contribute to wider academy duties and student welfare within Lift Schools

Qualifications

• GCSE Maths and English at grade 4+ (or equivalent) and A levels or Level 3 qualification.
• Experience of working with children and the confidence to supervise whole classes.
• Knowledge of effective behaviour management and ability to stay calm and resilient.
• Clear, effective communication and ability to build positive relationships with students and colleagues.
• Adaptability to work across subjects, age groups and changing priorities.
• Strong teamwork, organisation and ability to plan workload while keeping information confidential.
• Safeguarding, equality and inclusion; education experience, a degree or PGCE; Google Workspace and Arbor knowledge are desirable.

Responsibilities

• Supervise lessons in the absence of the class teacher and deliver pre-prepared materials.
• Maintain a calm, orderly classroom and apply the academy behaviour policy.
• Support students including those with additional needs (SEND) to understand and complete work.
• Complete attendance registers and provide feedback to the class teacher.
• Liaise with teaching, SEND and pastoral colleagues on student welfare issues.
• Support wider academy duties including breaks and lunchtimes supervision.
