Job summary

Stewarts Abbey is seeking an experienced Catering Manager to lead our busy coffee shop within the garden centre. You will manage daily operations, lead and develop the team, uphold high standards of food and service, and drive sales and profitability.

You will oversee rostering, training, stock control and supplier relationships, ensuring a welcoming, great-value experience for customers across all seasons.

Qualifications

• Experience in a busy café, coffee shop, restaurant or hospitality environment.
• Demonstrated leadership and ability to develop a team.
• Strong focus on customer service and quality standards.
• Understanding of food hygiene, health and safety and allergen requirements.
• Experience with stock control, ordering and waste management.
• Ability to manage costs and improve margins in a high-volume setting.

Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day operation of the coffee shop ensuring smooth, efficient service.
• Manage, motivate and develop the team; oversee rostering and attendance.
• Recruit, train and support staff; maintain high staff performance.
• Maintain hygiene, safety, COSHH, and security standards across shop and kitchen.
• Monitor stock levels, rotation, wastage and supplier invoices.
• Identify opportunities to increase sales and improve profitability.
• Plan seasonal changes and promotional offers to maximise sales.
• Collaborate with the Group Catering Manager to ensure consistent quality and pricing.
