The successful candidate will assist the assistant manager and Manager with supervision of the team across our two Cafés in the terminal building, ensuring the highest level of food hygiene and customer service is maintained, whilst maximising revenue opportunities. This role encompasses the Café and our retail outlet, where we sell a selection of Cornish produce alongside travel necessities, and also includes our newly installed bar!

What you'll be doing:

• Supervising the team for the day-to-day operation of the café and retail areas to ensure maximum productivity of the workforce (maximum net revenue/FTE) by developing good selling techniques and offers to maximise sales (cross selling, link selling, effective food preparation).
• Ensuring the Café retains its five-star hygiene rating and meets all food health and hygiene standards, including strictly adhering to Natasha Law guidelines. Also, adhering to legislation related to sales and consumption of alcohol at all times.
• Ensuring all areas of the business deliver a positive and consistent customer experience (in both regular and disruptive situations) that reflects the CAL brand.
• Driving a positive Health and Safety agenda for self and team to maintain a safe and secure environment within the café and retail areas for colleagues and the travelling public.
• Delivering top-class customer service and commercial performance across the café and retail operation at the Airport.

• Good supervisory, administrative, and organisational skills.
• Ability to work according to specified guidelines.
• IT skills in MS Office.
• Effective communication skills suitable for a wide variety of customers.
• Ability to remain calm, assertive, and methodical in stressful situations.
• Highly motivated to work, learn, and develop personally and to support others.
• Ability to plan ahead, execute projects, and implement plans in a timely manner.
• Experience in stock handling.
• Awareness of allergens in all food recipes and the ability to raise awareness about them.
